Amrapali & Gemfields launch ethical emerald jewels

Fine jewellery house Amrapali has teamed up with leading British gemstone company Gemfields to launch a collection of ethical emerald pieces called Panna, named after the Hindi word for emerald.
The new line is part of a creative collaboration between the two companies, and features stones mined by Gemfields in Zambia, and was launched at a special event yesterday evening in London.
The design takes inspiration from the fine jewellery made by the European jewellery houses for the Maharajas.
Designs include mosaic-like stone set cuffs, striking necklaces and chandelier earrings that embrace Amrapali’s distinct Indian aesthetic, a style it says is “sweeping Western jewellery houses”.
Amrapali also recently became the first Indian jeweller in Harrods Fine Jewellery Room.
Gemfields has also teamed with sculptor-turned-jewellery Jordan Askill and fine jewellery house Faberge in recent month in other collaborations.
The Panna collection will be showcased at Amrapali’s Beauchamp Place boutique and Harrods Fine Jewellery room.
